Just finished a successful pre wired install of an Alpine 6 disc CD
changer. CD changer goes in trunk, driver's side under the deck behind
and above the back seat. BMW bracket kit [~$25] 65-12-9-059-415
attaches to three pre threaded holes with three bolts in the kit. The
fourth bolt in the kit attaches the removable half of the bracket to the
bracket mounted to the car. The bracket kit includes no instructions.
The mounting bracket instructions come with the [sic] CD changer as does
a third required bracket that gets bolted to the removable half of the
bracket from the bracket kit. I used 82 11 1 468 014 which is an Alpine
6 disc changer that is controlled by a BMW Alpine radio. You can
determine what kind of radio you have by simultaneously pushing the "-"
[next to the mode button] and
the "Prog" button. Read the radio type in the display. If you are not
working 100% 1995 Alpine, seek advice on what you need and how to
proceed elsewhere.
The pre wiring for the CD changer is located behind the left trunk side
panel. The pre wiring for the telephone is located on most foreword
area of the right trunk, passenger side, behind the trunk side panel.
No stub wiring or adapters are required.
Remember to remove the three shipping bolts and to set both tension
adjustments to horizontal. If you get a disc error, as I did, and the
cartridge is in the unit, slip the 3 1/2" side of a 3 1/2" by 5" index
card in centered at the bottom of the cartridge. The cartridge will pop
free. Disconnect both the power and the data cables at the CD changer.
Turn on the radio and cycle through the bands without the CD changer.
Turn off the radio and reconnect the CD changer. Then load six CD's in
good condition into the cartridge, follow label side up notation on the
cartridge, load the cartridge into the CD changer and try again.
