1995 530i on board computer now includes alarm symbol in upper right corner
of the display and chimes at 59 minutes past each hour.  I just turned this
"feature" on, though I am clueless how I did it.  I would now like to
turn it off.

On my three series,  this feature is toggled on and off by hitting the MEMO
button in the S/R, time, date, memo cluster.  When it is on, there is
speaker icon displayed next to the time.  The icon disappears when the
feature is off.
