Very true.  Many people seem to automatically assume that they need more
space because of the new family member.  I rarely see Europeans with large
SUVs (some minivans, though) due to kids.  Have you seen a typical European
baby stroller?  They are huge, and not as compact when folded compared to US
ones.  My neighbor just bought a 3 series convertible and he has 2 kids, 4
and 6.  Another one, a C32 wagon (very nice).  The only reason I would
consider a minivan is if I have to carry more than 4/5 people on a regular
basis.
