E30 Clutch Pedal

I have an 87 325es that is setting in the driveway because of inability
to shift gears.  I originally thought the clutch could be bad but am
having my doubts.  If I press on the clutch pedal and press it half way
to floor it will continue to the floor on its own.  After half way, I
can release my foot and it keeps going.  Is this an easy fix that
suggest the clutch may be good and not bad?
