hmm. The only amsoils that are "officially" API certified are their
synthetic blends - the XL7500 series and a diesel oil. These are the
more inexpensive "gateway" products aimed at first time users. Once
they're hooked, we can turn 'em on to the pricey stuff and the next
thing they know, they're doing 25,000 mile drain intervals, installing
by-pass filter kits, oiled-foam air filters, synthetic ATF, and even
that trippy blue GL-5 gear lube in the diff.
Yep, a bored gearhead will do strange things when he finds he doesn't
have to change his oil every 3000 miles. Straaaaange, scary things.
