Problems with 88 BMW 321i???

HI!  I hope someone can help me out... I'm interested in purchasing an '88
321i automatic 4 door sedan, and I'm wondering if there are any specific
issues I need to look out for, especially as the car ages.  

Car has 140K, valves recently done, new fuel pump, and the compression is
right on.   Car seems to be well taken care of.

Can someone let me know what the expected lifetime on one of these cars is?
Also, what should I expect the general annual maintenance costs to be?  I
just don't want to buy something that it going to cost a lot to maintain.
(I already have my hands full restoring my Alfa :-)
