87 535is coolant leak

Pulled in to work this morning and noticed some steam coming from my 87 535is as I left my car. Pooped the hood and didn't see any leaks from hoses or radiator. Looked up under the car and coolant was running off the oil pan. My first thought is water pump. Any other possiblities? Also whats involved in changing out the pump, parts cost vs. having it done.
