M6 Electrical Problems

On a recent 90 mile freeway trip from home, I experienced the engine in my
'87 M6 stopping and restarting twice. On the way back to home, the cruise
control quit working and head lights went out (but came on again when I
toggled the high beams on and off). All a bit hair raising at 80 mph! I'm
reasonably certain that I've got bad ground connections somewhere and would
appreciate some advise on where to start.
