Gruppe,
I'm now the proud owner of a 2800 CS that the original owner had the
Schnitzer folks do an engine transplant in.
Unfortunately all I have is the original 'receipt' dated 1978 that gives the
price ~16,000 DM and that it is a new 3.3 l Grupe 3 motor with a Schnitzer
claimed output of 320 PS. FWIW, they also say they have TUV certification
for the work performed.
I've been in contact with the Schnitzer factory and not only do they claim
to have no records of any sort from that period, they claim they have not
catalogs, brochures or product information from that period. (this totally
dispels the myth about all Germans being efficient!!).
Does anyone out there have any details or historical reference? In addition
to any history, the bore and stroke, cam specifications, valving (if
different), and carburetion details (Zenith downdrafts, but what was/is the
jetting).
I see my new baby this next weekend (I'm in Portland, OR, it's in Long
Island, NY) and can't wait.
Cheers!!!
John N
