I can't believe this really happened but it did.
I was reversing my 1990 325i out of a parking lot on friday night at 2MPH. I
put a lot of lock on the srteering to avouid the cars in the next row and in
doing so I bumped my front wheel against the kerb that was next to the ca (I
was in the end space of the row )
The engine stalled as the revs were low and the car did not have enough
momentum to ride up over the kerb.
I restared the engine and - CLATTER, CLATTER, CLATTER ! Something horrible
had happened and the engine was vibrating ferociously. I shut it down, we
obviously were not going anywhere.
I have now pulled the rocker cover to discover three inlet rockers (2,3 and
4) broken. I can only assume that in stalling the engine on hitting the kerb
that the belt jumped a notch or more.
Can this be true, has this ever happened to any one else with an M20 Engine?
