E36 wheel bearing replacement -- how often?

I have 95,000 miles on my '96 328is and have never replaced my wheel bearings.
I recently replaced my struts/shocks that showed only modest wear.  No
components, shock mounts or otherwise, were "blown".  I did replace the shock
mounts at this time, however.
