Hi All,
I have a '93 520iA, M50 engine and every time when I start it from
cold (Sitting for more than 2 or 3 hours) I must leave it idle for a few
minutes before driving it. It always starts and idles perfectly but when I
try to drive it it bogs down and is very hesitant as if it's got no power &
won't accelerate. It is impossible to drive like this but after idling for
a couple of minutes it'll be perfect.... It seems like it actually switches
over after a certain duration, not like it gradually improves. It was
suggested to me that this may be caused by a bad temp sensor - Does this
sound feasible or are there other likely causes? If it sounds like a temp
sensor, is this something I could check and fix/replace myself? (I'm
reluctant to bring it to the garage as they said they'd need it to be left
over night so they could check it when cold in the morning).
Thanks in advance - any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Damian.
