//M3 heads, E36

Is there someone here on the digest experienced in modifying E36 //M3
heads?

I would like, foremost, to get rid of those 16 pesky little hand
grenades called hydraulic lifters, either with European E36, or new E46
parts, if they are compatible with the US E36 //M3 head.  Are larger
diameter valves available?

Also what is the spec for shaving the bottom of the head, and is there
an extra thick head gasket made.

Plus, please relate first hand experience in recommendations for
camshafts, either European spec BMW cams, or aftermarket like Schrick,
and how much performance gain can be expected on an OBD II engine.
