They "are not" the same...I tried that....two sons...two bimmers ('86325es, 
'87325is). the boards were not a match.  However if you have a very early 
'87, it may...I understand the '87's changed alot of things mid-year.  The 
only way to know for sure is to have VIN's and check with your local dealer 
or other parts supplier.

My bet is that they are different...not even close.
