'89 535i defective speedometer & misc

Looking at an '89 535i for possible purchase

1) Is there a difference between 535i and 535ia?  The emblem on the trunk
says 535i but service invoices I found in the glovebox say 535ia.

2) How would I obtain the radio code?  The battery was replaced, and need to
obtain the unlock code for the radio.

3)  The speedometer was functioning intermittenly.  Is this a tough repair,
or a $$$ repair?
