540i help

I can't find the heater/airconditioner BLOWER RESISTORS on my 1994 540i.  I 
believe they need replacing, because only the high speed works.

My Chiltons manual says they are below the left side of the instrument panel, 
on the left side of the rear plentum.   I can't find them.

Can anyone add to this description to help me find the blower resistors?

Also are there other BMW list servers or web sites that might help with BMW 
information?
