administrivia: bouncing email

a couple of days ago, a "feature" crept back into the server's mail
configuration without my realizing it; during the time that this
feature was enabled some of you trying to send email to the server may
have experienced mail bounces with a 550 error code.

yesterday afternoon (GMT, as i'm still in london for one more day) i
managed to track down and disable the feature. things should be ok
now. hopefully nothing will break on friday while i'm stuck in a plane
heading back to new york.

in vaguely related news, i'm buying lunch today for Philip Hazel, the
author of the Exim Mail Transport Agent software which has done such
excellent service on the digest.net mail server for the past 6 or 7
years.
