e28 wandering temperature gauge help

The temp gauge on my 1985 528e is wandering. I have
attempted to have it repaired twice. Still wanders.
I have been told it is a ground problem. The digital
clock on the dash stopped working about the same time
as the temp gauge. Can anyone help?
