E34 Electric cooling fan problem

Hi Everyone,

I have read in Bently that the auxiliary electric cooling fan on the E34
525i should operate all the time when the Air conditioning is switched on.
Mine only operates when the engine  is too hot.

Does anyone know if this is a problem with a relay? There appear to be two
associated with the electric fan, one for low speed and one for high speed,
anyone know which one, controls the operation of the fan with the air
conditioning.
