alarm/ central locking problem

hello all, i wonder if you could shed some light on this,
i have a 97 m3 with a central locking problem.
when you lock the driver's door, central locking activates and locks driver,
passenger, fuel cap and boot
when you lock the passenger's door, central locking activates and locks
passenger, fuel cap and boot, not DRIVER
when you lock the boot, central locking activates and locks boot, passenger
and fuel cap but not DRIVER
when you activate tha alarm fob, locks boot, passenger and fuel cap but not
DRIVER
has anyone come across this problem before.
the car has a standard 3g ews alarm fitted.
