e30 M3 excessive oil-burning

Hello all - looking for some advise
A few months ago I had a complete rebuild done on my
e30 M3 2.3l motor.  Used stock pistons with Total Seal
rings.  The car now has approx. 7K miles since the
rebuild but its still consuming excessive amounts of
oil.  About a quart of Mobil 1 every 500 miles.  Spews
black smoke under heavy accelaration.  Any suggestions
regarding the cause/cure.
