Emergency!!

Hi!

I am melting in the heat here in Sweden! My ac is not 
working very well. There is some sort of connection error 
in it. When the control panel for the ac is totally black I 
can't "wake it up" by a hit on dashboard.

Does anyone know how I get the control panel out? I have 
tried from above (after removing the radio) but that didn't 
work. Do I have to take away the glove compartment and 
crawl in that way?

The car is a 323 -96 (E36) with passanger side airbag.
