e36 window control mod in an e30?

Is anyone familiar with the electric window control module/motor on an
e36?  I was interested adding the "window drops when you open the door,
window closes when you close the door" function on my e30.  Is this
function controlled from winthin the window motor itself or is it a
separate unit that could be added to an e30?
