Well, today was the planned day to put in the front cam seal and fix that
annoying oil leak. Thanks to Henri and Alex for the suggestions and
pointers. But I just wasn't up to 4 hours work to put in a $8 piece of
rubber today.....so instead I took care of a lot of little stuff.
Sy Choudhury's fix cured my erratic clock. (FAQ 15.7.7: Fixing Erratic
Clock (not OBC)). Thank you Sy - that clock's been a mess for the last 6
years.
Not only did I remove and resolder the multi-pin connector as per the FAQ
, I also resoldered the ambient light sensor and the 12hr/24hr/degC/degF
selector switch, curing problems in those areas too. The bad solder
joints had a lot of flux around them - bet they didn't clean the flux off
during manufacturing. I did try just reheating the old solder, but that
didn't work. A complete removal per the FAQ did the trick.
Yes, I did hit it with flux remover when I was done.
Off for some beer.....
Tony
