I've always wondered this, but never wanted to start the Heal-Toe/Double
clutching thread again. But since it's started, Hey why not ask. Anyway My
long winded question is this: I used to think that you would use heal-toe to
smooth out shifting so you could downshift through all the gears smoothly to
help slow the vehicle down. In reading you guys, it seems I was way off,
that using heal-toe is to help smooth out shifting, but more so that you are
in the correct gear when exiting the turn and not upsetting the balance of
the car while downshifting. That being the case if you were in 4th headed
into a turn that you needed to be in 2nd for the exit, would you just skip
3rd and go straight from 4th to 2nd. Or is it not that simple, and it is
different for each situation?
Hope that question made some sense.
