<E36> Sound advise

I'd like to improve the accuracy of my stock BMW sound system, and I'm
wondering what the
best way to go about it is.

Here are my goals:

1) Get rid of mid range boom
2) Improve quality of highs
3) Maintain original head unit
4) Keep system as stock-looking as possible (maybe a BMW-HK upgrade?)
5) A SLIGHT increase in bass response would be nice, but isn't necessary
6) Not to spend an arm and a leg; the car set me back enough!
