Service Indicator lights

Friends -


I recently bought a 1996 525 TDS here in France - ergo it's a European car.  


I did my first oil change this weekend, searched out the "connect Pin 7 to Pin 19" advice on the web, did so, waited 3-5 seconds and presto - nothing.


Does anyone have any advice on what I'm doing wrong?
