88 535i speedometer

Hello,
I own a 88 535 that recently had the speedometer stop working.  At low 
to medium speeds i.e. from about 0 to 55 mph the speedometer will not 
move or intermittently move.  However above 55 or so the speedometer 
will consistently work.  I'm sure that there is just a loose wire 
somewhere or maybe some junk on a contact.  Has anyone had any similar 
problems?  Any help would be great.
