In junior high school I learned an important lesson from the
cheerleading squad.
It was my first time at a "big time" school basketball game. The
spirit was high and the pre-game cheering loud. I was impressed! Then
some students started to rebel by stomping rhythmically on the
bleachers. More students joined in, and still more, until it was
clear that it had to be stopped before our eardrums burst or the
bleachers collapsed. Uh oh, I thought, now we're in for it!
I expected the teachers to jump in to quell it, maybe even cancel the
game. But, of course, that would have only made it worse. Instead, the
cheerleaders enthusiastically took up the beat and ENCOURAGED more
stomping, making it a part of their routine. Well, that did it. The
rebellious stomping faded soon after it ceased to be rebellion by
becoming part of the establish cheering.

My point is that these threads will fade of their own accord.
(Remember fog lights?) Any attempt to stop them only makes it worse.
