<Misc>RE:Tires.

Brandon:

Unfortunately, you're going to be hard pressed to find a tire that will keep
you happy auto-xing AND in the snow (depending on whether you prefer to go
fast or slide). AVSI's are great street tires that hold up well auto-xing
and on the track (did it for 2 years before buyng R1s), but they're
DANGEROUS (IMHO) in the snow. the tread clogs quickly, leaving you pushing
4 tobaggans around...Slush-clogged AVSIs (yes, plus driver error) killed my
Integra four years ago.

If you shop around, it may still be early enough to get some snows on steel
wheels cheap. That plus some weight in the trunk make a BMW a pretty
competent snow car. Living that far north would seem to justify the expense
unless you're going to live somewhere without storage space.

If you need a single set of tires, I'd consider the Yokohama's AVSI S4s or
one of their other 4-season tires
(YMMV, of course).
