Axxis/Repco>PBR - Brake Pads

PBR is the Australian manufacturer of these pads.  They used to sell pads
through Repco who's name has now been changed to Axxis.  It is generally
cheaper for the parts houses to buy the pads in the manufacturer's box (ie,
PBR). 

	 I have all 3 names sitting on my shelves in both Deluxe and Metalmaster
compounds. These pads are cleaner (less brake dust) than the German (Pagid,
Textar or Jurid) equivalents but the quality is down a notch (in my
opinion!).  The inner pads metal prongs are more likely to break off and
the fit in the caliper is not as tight...they are more likely to slap
around in the caliper and make noise, noticeable at slow speeds.  They also
have a tendency to squeal more but this can be overcome with teflon shims,
antiseize on the backing, or bevelling the pads leading edge....these
procedures will hopefully drive the harmonics of the pad resonance into a
higher, non-audible frequency range.

		I personally use the Pagid pads on my 89 535i and clean the wheels a bit
more often. The Axxis/PBR pads are still better (again, in my opinion) than
most of the other aftermarket pads on the market.  SD
(PS-The metalmaster compound is good for light track use but is in no way
considered a track pad.  I personally don't like these for the street
because of their lack of performance when cold or after driving through
standing water.)
