Last I heard:
1) Short block = engine block with all rotating and
rocipricating units installed
2) Long block = same as above with the addition of the
complete cylinder head installed.
Neither one comes with any accessories - intake, exhaust, water pump,
generator, ac.
1) is good for rods going through the side of the block because of a spun
bearing.
2) is a good choice if you sink a valve
There are other ways to repair these problem but doing it this way is the
fastest.
