Hi,
I have a Hoover Steam cleaning machine for carpets which comes with an upholstery
attachment. The attachment works for stairs, sofas, etc. AND it works *great* on
the carpet in the car as well as the seats in cars with cloth seats. I am not
suggesting you buy one of these machines just for cleaning the carpets in your car
BUT if you think you might ever use it in your home, the car is just one more place
you will definitely be able to use it.
Also you might want to consider if you ever rent those steam cleaning machines to
clean your home carpet from the grocery store, if it happens to come with an
attachment for stairs, upholstery, etc. the use it on your car(s) while you have
it.
One more thought, when I bought my car (used), there was coke or something spilled
all over the rear carpets. The guy took the car in the back, used some stuff
called Magic clean by AIM which he had cut 1/12. He was back in less than 5 minutes
and all the stains were gone. He said you have to be careful using it because it
can bleach the carpets if you aren't careful. So this may not be your first choice.
Hope this helps, and no I'm not a professional carpet cleaner, etc. Please do not
include this on a thread on HOWTO clean carpets in the car. So Please no flames.
I'm just sharing what works best for me.

Kim Watters
