Bob,
Thanks for the data on unused oil. I'm not familiar with the terms TBN and
TAN, and couldn't find them in Mobil's data.

Could you explain please? TIA.

FWIW I did go look at the 85 535is in Westminster that was advertised on
the Digest. Been hit in the front and poor repair job. Bumper out of
alignment and cracked in the center. Honest to gosh Bondo showing through
a chip on the hood and the orange peeled paint on the RF fender is
unappetizing. Also, been hit in the LR quarter. Don't think he'll sell
it until he empties the ashtrays either.
It may very well be grey market, but I am not that familiar with the
differences. It was laid out quite a bit differently than my 85 535i.
Alas, I must keep looking for someone as anal as I am before I can buy
the next one. Jim

Subject: M3 spoiler & wife driving
I am interested in knowing from anyone that has had their M3 lowered, would
you have done this, knowing your wife was going to drive the car.
I currently have a 325isport sedan. I will be lowering the car. I will also
be adding the MTechnic ground effects (in other words, front spoiler,
sideskirts, rear apron and Mirrors of M3 styling).
My wife will be driving the car (hopefully not too much), and I want to know
if the lowered car and the deeper spoiler are going to cost me a lot when it
comes to body work and paint.
Has anyone lowered the M3 and is the clearance enough that I should not be
soo concerned? (Besides the fact that I live in Indiana where there is no
road with out a chuck hole.) She does not take it above 4000RPM or drive
hard, but she will enter a driveway at 20 mph turning hard.
Thank you in advance.

reviews about Bilsteins. I have the following questions: (a) Are
Bilstein worth the money -- there are nearly twice as expensive
as BOGEs
I can't speak for Bilstiens - I put BOGE Turbo Gas struts (all
four) in my car about 100K Miles ago. No complaints, no
problems. Lifetime Warranty.

Subject: Floormat and Stereo
I need to purchase the drivers side floor mat only for my 1992 318is. Mat
color is black. I just need one. Other three are fine. Why cant I find
just one? Is this, as my father used to say, "How they get ya!"?
"dont spin the TV knob so fast! If it breaks, they wont sell you a new
knob, you have to buy the who TV...THATS HOW THEY GET 'YA!"
If anyone has any leads please let me know. And yes, I do want the
original factory mat with the BMW logo.
Thanx

PS..Still waiting on the Pioneer 1210 CD Changer. The KEHp-6400 head unit
arrived, but the changer is backordered. Have had several inquiries on my
satisfaction with the stereo changeover, and will post my results after the
changer gets here and I get it installed. Head Unit appears to be awesome.
Even includes a seperate remote control.
Mail-order price was $245..Local Best Buy has exact same unit on SALE for
$379.00

If anyone is interested, the latest Motor Trend magazine has 4 seperate

another on the Harmon Kardon sound system.

Don't rule out your local BMW dealer. Your CCA card will bing
quite a discount. I often end up and the dealer when I am
buying new parts. The club discount is often around 40% -
sometimes as high as 60%.
On non-critical or $$$ parts I usually try to buy used. There
are many sources for used parts and the prices are a whole lot
easier to swallow.

I just did this job on my 325es and it was easier than I thought. Contact me
if you would like me to quote you a price on these parts. I may be able to
save a fellow Digester a few bucks.

... I have a few comments.
First, I don't care what you are doing when you screw up and break your
car.
If I was a worthless driver, I could do the same screw-up in my 325is. In
fact
I know of a guy that did it in an '88 325is. It's NOT the cars fault. The
driver
made the downshift.
Second, I don't have to shut up. I do howver have some advice for you.
Quit being
such a jerk. It's folks like you that BMW people a bad name.
Third, if you can't handle the delecate nature of a real performance car,
GET A HONDA!
