14 second 1600?

I just found a magazine article here Down Under with a mint-looking red '71 
1600 that reportedly did 14.2 quarter miles (regularly).

The car was stroked to 1990cc , had a '78 320i head, and twin DCOE's but 
still, does 14.2 sec seem a little quick?

I think my new 1600 is about 10 seconds slower!

By the way, anyone know of  any late model BMW seats that go in the 
1600/2002 without any hassle?

For comparison, what would a late(r) model 1.8L engine + 4 speed box cost in 
the US?  I've been quoted ~ A$2200 which is about US$1750.
