I just returned from a great 3,200 mile trip to Montana and back (from
the San Francisco bay area), and my '95 325i performed wonderfully,
especially at speeds that are arguably legal in Montana. The ASC+T
turned out to be useful in non-snow situations such as turning uphill
into a driveway on a dirt road at very slow speeds (< 5 mph), and also at
20-30 mph on badly washboarded gravel roads. Of course, the car got
upgraded into a Bug-atti, but those colorful insect carcasses were
eventually washed off.
Prior to the trip I had installed the rigid plastic fog light covers from
Bavarian Autosport, the ones that just press on and then stick out about
1/2" from the glass. I also lost one of them prior to the trip (possibly
touching a cone at driver's safety school? They're not very securely
held on...), and sure enough, that lens got shattered on the trip.
What's a good source for a replacement fog light (although this one still
works)? I'm also wondering if the 20-mil sheets from Griot's actually
work for stone protection. The rigid cover is beginning to get cloudy
after just a few months; without it, the fog light is much prettier (but
not when smashed).
