speeding tickets
Regarding:
regardless of the fact that the road was a long empty straightaway in the
desert. The law is not always just, but breaking it is not an effective
way to change it.

Sure it is, that's how this country was founded, by patriots who believed that
unjust laws should not stand. Speed limits are set artificially low to
encourage ticket generation. There can be no debate on this. Some of the
Western states are slowly coming around now that the 55 NMSL has been lifted,
but in the rest of the country the status quo prevails. If every person
who got a speeding ticket (not the real nuts going 100MPH, I'm talking about
us poor soles doing 67 in a 55) pleaded innocent and made the courts bear
the burden of trying and convicting you, the traffic laws would become more
sensible.
