speeding tickets
Wow, I didn't know we had a smokey in the group, who is part of the corruption
in the society centered around traffic court, speeding violations, and
insurance surcharges. All I can say to that officer is go to hell! Regarding
your bullshit comment about people not knowing exactly how fast they are
going when you pull them over. I am watching the ROAD when I drive, not my
speedometer. If I were taking my eyes off the road to look at the speedometer
every few seconds, I would be a dangerous driver. Most of these people going
15 MPH over the limit are moving with the flow of traffic, since the speed
limits are set artificially low to promote ticket generation. As such, they
too are watching the road and not their speedometers. I recently got my
first and only ticket in 16 years of driving 40K plus miles/year last month.
When the cop pulled me over, he did the same little number you referred to about
asking me my speed. He told me I was going 48 in a 25 zone (in my pitiful
Honda Civic hatchback no less, not my M3). This was of course baloney. Then,
the scum proceeded to tell me how he tracked my in the middle lane. Of course,
I was in the right lane and when I told him this, he paused for a second
and then said "Yeah, I guess you were in the right lane". The SOB gave me the
ticket anyway even though he didn't know which lane I was in and had been
clocking someone else (there were cars in all three lanes) because I wasn't
going 48MPH at the time. How do I know this? Not because I was looking at my
speedo, but because in subsequent trips on that road after getting the ticket
I made careful note of my speedo while moving with the flow of traffic, and was
always going about 35 or so, not 48. Now, I pleaded not guilty of course,
but I guarantee you that in court, the cop will LIE THROUGH HIS TEETH when I
ask if was mistaken about which lane I was traveling in when he stopped me.
Total bullshit, I know I will lose. I tell you all honestly, after this
experience, I am begging to think maybe OJ Simpson is innocent. If a cop
would lie in court for something as low level as a speeding ticket, maybe
they would plant evidence in a murder case to frame? I never believed this
could be true before, but when something actually happens to you, it changes
your outlook on things. Needless to say, I won't be donating any money this
year to my local PBA....
