1 The door locks don't work. When I insert the key in the hole in the=20
driver's door to lock the doors, no doors lock. However, when I release=20=
the key, I can hear a sound from each of the other doors that sounds=20
like the power lock mechanism working, but nothing happens. Even worse,=20=
however, I am unable to lock the car at all. When I try to push the=20
locks down to lock the doors manually, of the four doors, only the rear=20=
driver-side door lock can be depressed. The other three can't be budged=20=
at all. Any ideas as to the problem?
I think this may be due to the deadlock arrest/inhibit microswitch being =
physically jammed or faulty.
Look inside the drivers door by removing the interior trim. peel back the=
plastic sheet, and with the window up, look underneath the keylock barre=
l mechanism.
You should see a brown? plastic switch, 1inch square which has a leafspri=
ng over the top of it. It is designed to have a cam depress this switch a=
s the lock barrel is turned with the key. This then sends a signal to all=
other locks to activate inhibit/arrest mode (hence the short whirr noise=
and the jammed lock catches).
You may be able to clean/realign/replace the microswitch usually the pin=
which is moved via the leafspring gets lost or gets stuck inside the swi=
tch.
Hope this helps!
