You should check the wear on the pads, but this behavior is normal when the pads
start to get thin. The sensor is nothing more than a loop of wire on the pads
itself. When the pad gets thin, the rotor will start wearing away the insulation
on the wire, causing it to ground the exposed wire when the rotor contacts it,
and making the light blink on. As the pads continue to wear, the light will tend
to stay on more, until the pad gets real thin, and the wire is cut completely,
then the light will stay on continuously. There is still usually plenty of wear
on the pads when the light first starts flashing, so no need to drop everything
and rush to a mechanic.
Once the sensor wire gets worn, you need to replace it along with the pads. The
sensor only costs a few bucks.
