<E30> Convertible cover struts

Does anyone know of a source for the little gas strut which holds open the
lid which covers the convertible top, when down, on an E30 Convertible?  It
is a 3.25 in. long chamber plus piston and connection eyes.  Stabilus part
#2805260180N, BMW part # 51 25 2 932 333 with a list price of (hold on)
$89!  This part is like a mini hood shock and the cover uses two.  Don't
know of any cross reference to other manufacturers but this price is
absurd.  Any help would be appreciated.
