I dissassembled a window switch, P/N 03 8318 20 1377 905. The bottom of the
switch (with the connector lugs and a "Keying" pin snaps into the switch
housing and is retained along the two long sides by four pins. If you use a
small screwdriver or pocket knife blade to insert between the bottom of the
switch and the sides of the housing, the sides will spread enough to release
the pins on the bottom piece from the matching holes on the housing side.
Inside are two mineature bulbs that are mounted in a small plastic sleeve.
The bulbs are even smaller than those that illuminate the lower dash where
your headlight foglight swtiches are. The window switch bulbs (the glass
envelope itself) is about 1/16" in diameter and perhaps 1/8-3/16" long. The
wire leads from the glass bulb envelope then are bent to anchor it in the
plastic base.
While you have the switch disassembled, it is a good time to clean the gunk
and dirt off of the contacts.
I suppose that the next thing is to try and find replacement bulbs. Anybody
had any luck???
