RE: <MISC> First "OIL SERVICE"

Seems like a few 318ti's have the problem...

>My 318ti (Alaska Blue as well) does this also. Do you know the title or
>number of the tech bulleting sow I can reference it to my dealer?

I called my dealer this AM to ask if the parts had arrived and he said that
the problem is not at the 'bulletin' stage yet, but a Technical Report had
been issued (this is what I saw last week at the dealership) and this is the
first step towards a Bulletin. The name of the problem is the GROARING
NOISE, due to a faulty valve in the a/c assembly. The 'groaring' name is so
unusual that your mechanic will have no trouble finding the report. And no,
there is no number attached to the report.

Incidentally, a 'sigh'-like noise is normal in Mercedes and BMW a/c's. You
will be able to hear the cold air go into the cabin, but it is not very
loud. What some of us are discussing here is outright emphysema from the
part of the a/c ;-))) A very loud noise that sounds as though the a/c is
about to give up the ghost. I don't use the a/c very often as I have a
sunroof, but on longish trips from Vancouver to Seattle on the I5 I will use
the a/c if it's warm outside. I only experienced the groaring noise once,
after a long trip.

Hope this helps y'all, it's a warranty fix which will take less than a day.

Happy motoring,

Vida.
