Howdo bimmerheads.
Well, this weekend i went to spend some quality time with my newly
acquired 528i, and part of this was changing the oil for the first time.
The car had been taken to one of those quick lube places by the previous
owner (no names will be mentioned since i got in trouble by mentioning
vendor names on this digest before). Anyway i get underneath, and low and
behold the morons at the lube place had cross threaded, and stripped the
oil pan plug. A little negotiation with a screw driver, and wisegrip
finally got the stripped plug out, and i do have a new one on order, which
will hopefully go in without having to screw with the oil pan too much.
But here is my question:
Since the wonderfull folks at this lube place had seen fit to just change
the oil service sticker on the car and not the oil, the engine as seen
from above (i.e. valve cover) is covered with gunk. Has anyone used one
of those engine flushes added to crank case? do they work? Are they bad
for the motor? Should i even consider putting the stuff into my
crankcase?
thanks for any advice
dadbeh
