Don't give up hope, Leigh. The used market is quite good. A week
ago I found a clean, 1986 325e at a local dealer that he was asking
$4900. After selling my dodge pickup for $5,000, I paid the dealer
$4,000 cash for the car. It has a few minor things so far that I've
done to it, but it's been fun rather than drudgery.

The only real expense I may be looking at is having the fuel
injectors cleaned, if Techron doesn't eliminate the hesitation and
stalling that very occasionally occurs. I've replaced the power whip
antenna, changed the filters and oil, etc. The car just had a new
timing belt put on it, and a new water pump.

So don't give up! Keep scouting the used lots, and make friends with
a used dealer -- they can find some deals at auction.
