My dealer installed a CPT 4000 cell phone in my E39 528i yesterday. They
did the one hour labor with parts I supplied from BMW Store in Cincinnati
(800) 543-1649. The dealer was unable to get the parts.
Parts Needed:
82-11-1-469-367 CPT4000 Phone Kit $308.51 (includes phone, charger, 12vdc
power supply)
82-11-1-469-735 Installation Kit E39 $274.75 (includes antenna, mount,
microphone, hardware)
Microphone is installed behind grill next to sunroof switch. Phone uses
stereo system speakers, which mute automatically when a call goes out or
comes in. Phone fits flush in armrest and is easily removed for portable
use. Controls on radio do not affect operation of phone. No buttons on
steering wheel and no stalk functions. Reception is clear according to my
wife. There is no booster transmitter installed, so the max power is 0.6
watts, which is enough in most areas.
Optional Parts:
82-11-1-469-364 Battery $47.03 NiMH Battery with 20-hour standby
time (normal is 9 hours)
82-11-1-469-378 Booster $293.80 Boosts transmitter to legal max 3 watts
82-11-1-469-746 Kit $22.36 Kit to install booster transmitter
82-11-1-469-744 Bracket $19.82 Bracket to mount booster transmitter
(left rear quarter)
82-11-1-469-743 Instructions $8.43 Instructions to install booster transmitter
Since phone uses a 12vdc charger, you could put the charger in another car
with a simple cable from lighter socket to mini plug.
