Service Inteval Lights

The owners manual for my recently acquired 1992 525i notes that the OBC
monitors your driving and adjusts the oil-change interval accordingly. Do lots
of in-town driving and your oil-change lights go out quickly; do lots of highway
driving and they don't. When I bought the car, almost 6,000 miles ago, all four
green lights were illimunated. One by one they went out, leaving only one.

I drove the car coast to coast, so 3,000-odd miles were at interstate
speeds of between 60 and 90 mph. After arriving on the east coast, a trip from
Washington to Charleston, SC and back addded another 1,000 miles at interstate
speed. The other 2,000 were mixed in-town/inerstate miles.

I've been driving cars since 1956 and have always changed the oil and
filter every 3,000 to 3,500 miles. I am getting nervous. Think I ought to ignore
that last light and just go ahead and change the oil/filter? What do you pros
say???
