RE:To sun/wind deflect or not.

I have been a wind deflector fan for a long time. So, I bought the sunroof
deflector the day after I picked up the car back in march. I like what they do
to the wind flow when sunroof is open. My previous car 89' Integra had wind
deflectors all over - sunroof and both doors. Unfortunately bimmers have the
cool high-tech door sealing which makes it impossible (or at least I haven't
been able to figure it out) to install side window deflectors on doors. I guess
that's the reason nobody makes them for the E36's. Frankly, the deflectors on
doors were more useful than the sunroof deflector. They allowed me to have side
windows slightly open even in the worst of rains, without getting wet.

The truth is though, that the sunroof deflector will leave permanent impression
in the paint. So far I had mine on since I bought it. Every time I wash the
car (every weekend or two) I take the deflector off and make sure that the roof
is cleaned up, polished and waxed under the seal. I also clean the deflector.
At this point in time there is slightly matte impression of the deflector seal
on my roof which I am unable to remove. It isn't very obnoxious or even visible
without looking for it and because it's covered with the deflector It doesn't
really bother me. However for those contemplating installation - it will leave
a permanent mark.
