Mike,
The Feb. '96 Roundel has an excellent article on improving the stock
sound system of an E34. It entails keeping the head-unit/CD changer
and replacing the speaker system with a/d/s components. In addition
there's an a/d/s subwoofer which fires through the opening of the
armrest. a/d/s has an excellent reputation in the speaker industry,
both in home and auto applications. As an E34 owner and big fan of
high-quality audio gear I am considering this upgrade.

Has anybody out there found an 'almost drop-in' speaker system for their E34?
I would be a three piece system, with a 5.25" low mid for the kick panel, a
2"-3.5"
upper mid for the dash, and 1" tweet for the door pod...
I want to keep my factory head unit/CD, replace the front speakers with
something
new and decent, power them along with a small sub with a bridgable power amp,
and use the factory amp on the rear (stock) speakers... should be the least
expensive
path to upgraded sound and stealth/stock installation.
I know a/d/s has one for the E36, but anybody got anything for E34 ?? Also,
what
have people been doing in their E34's for tall/thin sub boxes to fit up against
the rear
seat? I'm thinking a single 10" driver in a tall skinny box..
thanks
