Similar to your story, but I lost the gravel shield under the engine:
One night around 3am on a flat and straight stretch of deserted interstate, I decided to
check out the 'no rev limited' Dinan chip. After covering 4 miles in about a minute and
a half, I hear a 'swishing' noise that I attribute to cross winds. After slowing to a
more reasonable speed, I continued to hear 'swishing' noise every now and then. Reaching
my destination, I heard the noise again traveling 5 MPH. I pull over to investigate and
discover the gravel shield jammed up under the rear differential. I asked the dealer
about it when I took it in for service, picked the car up later, service guy didn't
mention it, I forgot about it, and they didn't replace it. The car has 49,750 miles on
it today, it goes in for last warranty tomorrow. I will ask them about it again.
